'''Wandering Spirit.''' Faeries are free spirited by nature, they often drop previous hobbies in favor of new ones. At the end of a long rest, you can swap a tool proficiency, skill proficiency, language proficiency, simple weapon proficiency, or martial weapon proficiency, with another proficiency of the same kind. Alternatively, you can swap a cantrip you know with another one you could have learned from the same origin. === Interim Lore ===
Faeries originate from the Steel Shroud and are primarily present in the Civilizations of the Hisies, the Lierethi, and [Arboreal DragonLands]. They come in five main Kindreds, each of which is an adaptation to survive in the deadly Hisies Forests, the Sylph, the Leshie, the Redcap, the Leprechaun, and the Selkie. The Sylph is primarily an air Faerie, with the strongest wings of all the Kindreds, using height to escape the predators in the forests. The Leshie is a forest Faerie, with greener skin and leaf-shaped hair, using camouflage to hide from predators. The Redcap is a gruff, strong Faerie, using brute force and combat prowess to fight off predators, also the one of the two wingless Faerie Kindreds. The Leprechaun, the other wingless Faerie, uses promises of great reward and treasure to distract predators. Finally, the Selkie is a water Faerie, using their wings to swim, co-existing with their predators or on the coast away from them. All of these Kindreds have dispersed somewhat evenly through and are about as common as each other with Sylphs being slightly more commonplace
The Faerie Kindreds, rather than being based on a form of biodiversity as is the case in pretty much every other case, are chosen, and can be changed via a magical ritual. There are still ethnicities among Faeries, and ethnicities usually have favored Kindred. The visual differences between the ethnicities does carry over between the different Kindreds.
The Faeries’ Blessing is that they know if a piece of food is safe to eat, will make them moderately sick, or will kill them outright, merely by looking at that food. This helped them stay alive in the Hisies Forest and Grassland where many of the plants and fruits are poisonous.
Appearance & Ethnicity
Faeries are very diminutive creatures, they have the general body-shape of a small human with a large head, and somewhat pointed ears, they have wings that are generally half as tall as the Faerie is. Faeries age quite slowly for their size, becoming a Child at around 1.5 years old, an Adolescent at around 5, an Adult at around 10, Middle Age at around 20, an Elder at around 35, and are Ancient from 45 onwards. Once becoming a Child, Faeries choose one of the five Kindred to become, before this point they have no wings, nor any other special boons, and are merely very short humans with large heads and slightly pointed ears.
A more specific appearance is based on the Kindred of a Faerie. Sylphs, or Air Faeries, have longer and thicker hair, their wings are the same size as they are, and their ears have more of a point to them, their wings are also more opaque than other Faeries. Leshies, or Forest Faeries, have shorter hair, and their hair, wings, and ears take on more of a leaf-like shape and quality. Leprechauns, or Trickster Faeries, have fuller facial hair than other Faeries, they’re a bit more broad shouldered, no wings, and their hair is more curly. Selkies, or Water Faeries, have blue eyes, and their wings become completely opaque and are used for navigating in the water. Finally, Redcaps, or Bruiser Faeries, have no wings and stand 6 inches taller than their non-Redcap counterparts, their muscles are also bigger and their shoulders are broader.
Faeries have five main ethnicities, three of which are found in the Steel Shroud, one in the [ARBOREAL DRAGONLAND], and one in the Lierethi. The Hisnooth which are generally found in the Hisies Forest, the Hisjak which are found in the Hisies Grasslands, the Hischich which are found in the Hisies Frostlands, the Lierel which are found in the Lierethi, and the [TERM], which are found in the [DRAGONLAND].
