Zhrrq
Zhrrq is a nation located in Anomella, its borders lie east of the Queensland Mountains, from the northern coast to the northern border of the subarctic region where Nāekà-á lies. From north to south its borders are about 850 Miles (about the distance from Birmingham, Alabama, to Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin), and from east to west is about 600 Miles (about the distance from Greenville, South Carolina, to Memphis, Tennessee).
Zhrrq is a primarily Vespoid nation, and used to be one nation with Zerrqa, but after the Aberrant Cataclysm in Anomella, they split due to necessity. In their unified state, they were ruled by a monarchy of Queens, but during the Cataclysm, the primarily line of Queens was killed, causing the split of the two Nations. Zhrrq remains led by an offshoot branch of Queens, while Zerrqa uses a form of democracy using a council from the offshoot Queens, rather than direct rule by them. Zerrqa and Zhrrq remain allies, but this alliance is very tense as they drift in opposite directions politically and governmentally. Both nations state their intention and desire to reunite, but few actions are being done to achieve this end.
Zhrrq's military is very regulated and organized. Specific Vespoids are bred to be members of the Queensguard, in units known as Clutchbrothers, this is an involuntary duty, and dissension or desertion means death. They are sent to strike at various Aberrant nests in the area, collecting Aberrant material, as well as being sent to both escort Zhrrqan traders, and meet and escort foreign, often Nāekà-á, merchants. They also act as a form of inquisitors, purging the aberrant cults found in Zhrrqan cities, however they often let these cults grow large enough so there is sufficient aberrant material to be collected for profit.
Efforella's Bulwark and Zhrrq are on very tense political terms, as Efforella's Bulwark zealots often find their way into Zhrrqan territories and occupy cities, rooting out and executing aberrant cult members. Zhrrq hates this for two reasons, the first is a foreign power taking it upon themselves to police Zhrrqan cities is a disgrace and highly disrespectful to the Queenswill's authority. Additionally, the more subtle reason is that often Bulwark forces root out cult presences that the inquisition is carefully grooming and tending until they hit critical mass to be purged, thereby disrupting Zhrrq's economy.
Due to the infesting presence of aberrant corruption, their own Twisted population can be one of the greatest threats to national security in Zhrrq, as well as the attacks from Aberratiions in the area, as well as the barren, frozen desert they live in.
Economy
Zhrrq's economy is based primarily on the fact they have a decent amount of Aberrant influence. They have a very effective military, and they kill Aberrations and collect various body from them. They use this Aberrant material both to sell by itself for its natural indwelling Resonance, and they use it to create magical items, which they also sell. They primarily sell their Aberrant Material and magical items to Nāekà-á in exchange for food and basic necessities, as well as The Academy in Drakion, in exchange for further training their arcanists, military, and magical craftsmen.
Population
The population of Zhrrq is primarily Vespoid (~73%), but also contains a few Plumbites (~11%), Gnolls (~8%), and Kobolds (~5%), as well as Misc. Ancestries (~3%).
Religion
Three primary religions dominate the Zhrrqan populace, [vespoidoriginalreligion] (~58%), semi-secret Aberrant Cults (~29%), The Church of the Three (~8%), as well as Misc. Religions (~5%).
Government
The Zhrrqan government remains strikingly similar to how it operated before the Hiverift, with a single line of monarch Queens directly leading her people. She is worshipped and revered as part deity, part monarch. Her word is law, and her hive listens to her voice. This single-minded law is known as the Queenswill.
Additionally, there is a Quartz Dragon infected with Melanophlogism, who acts as a voice of Aberrant influence that has served as advisor to the Queen for several generations. This is the primary influence that has allowed the Aberrant Cult to spread so thoroughly and uninhibited throughout Zhrrq. The general populace of Drakomere is completely unaware of this advisors existence, but some members of the Bulwark are increasingly suspicious of some form of Aberrant influence on the Queenswill, hence the attacks.
Factions
There are several factions in Zhrrq that influence its policies and politics.
- The Queenswill Loyalists (~33%) who wish to restore the old ways and reunite with Zerrqa.
- The Aberrant Cults (~28%) who slowly try to increase their power and influence, wanting to fully annex Zhrrq under Aberrant dominion.
- The Queenswill Inquisition (~20%) who dangerously tow the line of letting Aberrant influence in areas grow to profitable amounts before purging them.
- The Zhrrqan Arcanists (~10%) who create and champion the magic items made from Aberrant material.
- The Puritan Separatists (~8%) who see Zerrqan innovation as a disgrace and wish to wholly separate from them and their disrespect of the Queens.
Queenswill Loyalists (~33%)
The Queenswill Loyalists wish to restore the old ways and reunite with Zerrqa. They often vie for legislation that lessens political ties to non-Vespoid nations, increases the authority of the Queenswill, and draws closer politically to Zerrqa, as well as commissioning groups to try and find lore on how to restore the old Queens.
Aberrant Cults (~28%)
The Aberrant Cults slowly try to increase their power and influence, wanting to fully annex Zhrrq under Aberrant dominion. They are not an official political party or faction, but rather pose as members of other factions and operate in the shadows. They try to subtly reduce the power of the Inquisition, which is the main force keeping them from growing in power, as well as create more hostility towards Efforella's Bulwark, as that is their second greatest threat, and an international one.
Queenswill Inquisition (~20%)
The Queenswill Inquisition dangerously tow the line of letting Aberrant influence in areas grow to profitable amounts before purging them. They vie for legislation that increases their power and authority, allowing them to carefully time raids right at the critical moment to produce the most aberrant material, while still being manageable to eliminate. They also try vote for more resources and soldiers, trying to expand their power and influence.
Zhrrqan Arcanists (~10%)
The Zhrrqan Arcanists create and champion the magic items made from Aberrant material. They vie to increase their funding and resources, as well as increasing the training for their Mages, in order to produce better quality magic items to increase the sale price.
Puritan Separatists (~8%)
The Puritan Separatists see Zerrqan innovation as a disgrace and wish to wholly separate from them and their disrespect of the Queens. They vie for decreasing political ties with Zerrqa, seeing their actions and complete disregard for the Queenswill as an abomination.
