Lead Dragons are one of the nine Metallic Dragons of Drakomere. They are associated with the Tone of Contradynation, the Harmony of Abjuration, and the Melody of Arcane. They originated in Anomella, and are associated with the Origin Ancestry, the [[Plumbite]]. Due to their association with Abjuration Magic, they are also tied to the vice of Fear, and the virtue of Equanimity, as well as a secondary tie to Quetzacoatl, even though Tiamat is their primary god, being god of Metallic Dragons, thus also being related to the sea. Lead Dragons also have one Allokin, Galena Dragons.
| |||
Lead Dragons are the third most common of the Metallic Dragons, only being behind Aluminum and Tin Dragons. After they molt, and after any major physical changes, their soft and malleable scales shine a glossy silver, but after a few weeks, and for the majority of their lives, their scales are a dull gray color with almost not reflectivity.
| Lead Dragons are the third most common of the Metallic Dragons, only being behind Aluminum and Tin Dragons. Due to the lead poisoning often caused to those who spend much time around Lead Dragons, they have very tight knight, clustered communities. Lead Dragons live the longest out of all Metallic Dragons, and have thus taken it upon themselves to act as the de facto historians of drakomere. They have fantastic calligraphy and use both graphite writing implements, as well as a form of movable type, used in secret, that was developed in Steelshroud before it fell. Because of their vast knowledge and age, Lead Dragons often know secrets of the world that would make a typical non-draconic being go mad. Seeking the counsel of a Lead Dragon is a worthwhile endeavor, but can be dangerous to the minds of those ill-prepared.
| Due to the lead poisoning often caused to those who spend much time around Lead Dragons, they have very tight knight, clustered communities. In addition to their role as historians, Lead Dragons often find themselves as tradesmen, mastering trades such as construction, plumbing, smithing, casting, forging, and metallurgy, as well as several kinds of music, especially the organ. Lead Dragons, like the metal their scales are made of, are very toxic to those around them. Lead poisoning can have symptoms such as damage to the brain, kidneys, nerves, genes, it can cause abdominal pain, weak fingers, wrists, and ankles, increased blood pressure, reduced iron. It can lower the heart rate, cause miscarriages in women and reduce fertility in men. It can slow the brain development of children, disrupt their sleep and cause them to be drowsy during the daytime, as well as delay the puberty of girls. Finally it can also increase the amount of violent crime in areas of its exposure.
| Lead Dragons, like the metal their scales are made of, are very toxic to those around them. Because of all of this, it is very carefully measured whether or not Lead Dragons serve enough of a purpose to risk bringing into a community, the answer to which is typically no. Permanent wards of Curing can be placed on Lead Dragons to lessen or eliminate these effects which is the standard practice to avoid the symptoms of lead poisoning. | Because of all of this, it is very carefully measured whether or not Lead Dragons serve enough of a purpose to risk bringing into a community, the answer to which is typically no. Lead Dragons, while originating in Anomella, have since spread throughout much of Drakomere. However, due to the difficulty of keeping Lead Dragons in proper society, many of them throughout Drakomere have gone Bestial, especially those in their origin of the mountains in the north of Anomella. | |||

Galena Dragons one of the Lead Dragon's Allokins and are also extremely common, so much so that some in Drakomere think the elusive [[Polonium Dragon]] is a myth, and Galena Dragons are one of the true nine kinds of Metallic Dragons, this is not correct. Unlike their dangerous cousins, Galena Dragons are non-toxic and safe to be around. They are similar craftsmen like their cousins, but more dealing with ceramics, paints, and cosmetics. They also enjoy prestige and titles, with many smaller cities and hamlets being named after specific Galena Dragons. Finally, Galena Dragons are fast flyers, their alacrity in the air, paired with their abundance makes them common royal messangers. | Galena Dragons one of the Lead Dragon's Allokins and are also extremely common, so much so that some in Drakomere think the elusive [[Polonium Dragon]] is a myth, and Galena Dragons are one of the true nine kinds of Metallic Dragons, this is not correct.
